Middle AI Engineer - AI Patch Backporting

EuropeRemoteMiddle

We're looking for a versatile R&D Engineer to join our team tackling the challenge of AI-powered patch backporting. This is a hybrid role combining creative problem-solving with strong software engineering skills. You'll explore uncharted territory, rapidly prototype ideas, and bring successful concepts into production-ready systems. Your work will directly influence the way we automate patch management and vulnerability mitigation across large-scale systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys experimenting, building, refining, and integrating research findings into real-world solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Innovation:

  • Turning problem statements & hypotheses into concrete experiment plans—you pick methods, tooling, and metrics;

  • Running lightweight experiments to assess feasibility and value of new approaches.

Engineering & Integration:

  • Implementing research findings and integrating them into the production system;

  • Building and owning evaluation metrics, automating them in CI, and keeping results comparable.

Enablement & Acceleration:

  • Shipping production-quality Python tools/CLIs and small services that make experiments faster and cheaper.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Documenting your work for future adoption and reuse;

  • Keeping crisp written logs of experiments, results, and decisions.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be working at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and critical software infrastructure. We offer a highly collaborative environment where engineers are empowered to innovate, own their work, and make a tangible impact.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;

  • 3+ years of experience as a developer or engineering lead;

  • Proficiency in Python;

  • Hands-on experience integrating LLMs (via APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.);

  • Familiarity with RAG, CAG, and agent-based approaches;

  • Basic infrastructure skills: CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), testing automation.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Published research or experimentation experience;

  • Data analysis skills and experience building metrics for evaluation;

  • Basic knowledge of C language;

  • Familiarity with AI engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, WindSurf, aider).

Benefits

What's in it for you?

  • A strong focus on professional development with opportunities for learning and growth:

    • Interesting and challenging projects,

    • Mentor and other knowledge-exchange programs;

  • Fully remote work with flexible working hours, that allows you to schedule your day and work from any location worldwide;

  • Paid 24 days of vacation per year, 10 days of national holidays, and unlimited sick leaves to ensure you maintain a healthy work-life balance;

  • Compensation for private medical insurance;

  • Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement;

  • The opportunity to receive a reward for the most innovative idea that the company can patent, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.
