Backend Developer

We’re looking for an engineer who doesn’t just write code — but builds systems. The work is about speed, ownership, teamwork, and attention to detail.

AppScale Collective is a bootstrapped team building web-SaaS and consumer products with a strong focus on AI. We build real products, not pitch decks.

Our portfolio includes:

• an AI-video platform with 10,000+ paying users

• and two more products currently in production

What we’ve already built

• Deployed Comfy UI on AWS to stably generate 1M+ images per month

• Achieved 0.01% failure rate across the entire video-generation pipeline

• Reduced AWS costs 3× without performance loss

• Launched an MVP for a student-focused product in just 2 weeks

Your responsibilities

• Design and implement backend for new microservices

• Help build the video editor of the future (think CapCut + AI gen tools)

• Collaborate with frontend devs to ship features fast and optimize for 10× scale by summer

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Node.js (TypeScript)

• Proven expertise with Amazon AWS (Lambda, S3, SQS, etc.)

• Experience with PostgreSQL (PostgREST / Supabase is a plus)

• Strong understanding of RESTful API design

• Experience with high-load systems

• Solid understanding of OOP and SOLID principles
